While I sometimes feel guilty for being so passionate about fashion, every once in a while I am reminded of its power to tell some of society's most important stories. An exhibition opening October 6 at the Maryland Historical Society, Spectrum of Fashion: Celebrating Maryland's Style, does just that.
This significant exhibition gives insight into social power structures, demonstrating through design who held power over whom in households 300 years ago. Garments from more recent history illustrate how designers created the way we dress today (Special thanks to designer, Claire McCardell for one of our most iconic footwear styles- the ballet flat!)
